Modern Foreign Languages

In Year 2 students rotate each trimester among one of the three Foreign Languages offered for 30 minutes twice a week. From Year 3 students choose a Foreign Language which will either be French, Spanish or Turkish, unless they are receiving Additional English Support (AES).  Students attend two one-hour long lessons a week in the language chosen. Students are taught at their level of language competency.

Topics covered include vocabulary referring to: greetings, introductions, the alphabet, numbers, age, countries and nationalities, colors, school objects, calendar and international celebrations, family, pets, face and body, transportation, weather, clothes, feelings, time, animals, food, and shopping. All four skills, listening, speaking, reading and writing, are taught and assessed within this course.

The Modern Foreign Languages Department organizes educational fun activities and educational excursions for Primary students such as Languages Assembly.
