Assistant General Manager

Elvan Tongal is the Assistant General Manager of MEF Schools. She has 28 years of professional experience, including 13 years of administrative roles. She worked as a History Teacher in many private schools, notably the Founding Director of SEV American College. Specializing in IB Diploma Program, Ms. Tongal has been the IB Workshop Leader since 2013. She has been also working as a part-time instructor at the Teachers’ Academy Foundation (ÖRAV) since 2010. She has taken part in important projects such as ‘Sabancı University Alternative History Book Writing’, ‘No Teaching Limit’ and ‘Digital European Union: Turkish E-Book for High School and Primary School students. A graduate of Marmara University, Department of History, Ms. Tongal holds Sabancı University Alternative History Books and Bahçeşehir University Education Management and Supervision Master’s degrees. Elvan Tongal is a digital immigrant and a hopeful traveler on the path to learning.

Principal Izmir

Christopher Jackson is from the USA. After gaining a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Saint Olaf College in Northfield Minnesota,  he started teaching music in a suburb of Minneapolis and then in rural Minnesota. He then moved to Florida to work for the Walt Disney Company in the devlopment of a school. In 2003 he began his career in International Education when he moved to Lausanne, Switzeland where he taught for 12 years, implementing the IB PYP as wellas chairing successful reaccrediation efforts with the Council of International School (CIS) and New England Association of Schools (NEASC). Since 2007, Christopher has served as a peer volunteer visitor for CIS and NEASC, particpating or leading accreditation teams to a dozen schools across Europe and the Middle East. Upon completion of the Principals Trianing Center (PTC) for international edcation, he moved to Istanbul to serve as the MEF IS Primary School Principal in2015. He is excited to now be continuing his service the MEF IS community by moving to Izmir to serve as the Principal. Christopher is dedicated to supporting all members of the school community through the mission of the school; aiming to Inspire, Nurture and Challenge each teacher to in turn provide the best opportunities for students to meet their full potential.He lloks forward to working with the parents in the community as critical allies in the triangular partnership required in educating youth in the 21st century – Teachers, Students and Parents. Welcome to MEF IS in Izmir.

Deputy Principal Izmir

Edria Murray is from New Zealand. She studied Mathematics and Physics  at Massey University before completing a graduate diploma in Education and graduate Diploma in Information technology in Education from Canterbury University.  Edria has taught Physics, Mathematics, Combined science and Information and communications technology. She has also held leadership roles as curriculum coordinator and Deputy Principal and completed her Masters in Educational leadership from the University of Waikato.  Edria is invested in the development and success of all students to enable them to be successful and active participants in the global community.

She has two children currently attending MEF IS Izmir.
