During this week’s staff meeting our Reading Specialist, Ms. Heather, organised an activity that involved us analysing the reading assessment data of our students and forming intervention groups, where needed. Thank you, Ms. Heather, for this thought-provoking data analysis workshop.

We have reminded our Primary and Secondary students that devices must only be used under the direction of our teachers during lessons. Devices are not permitted in our foyer area or around our school outside of lesson times.

Our Primary Winter Concert 'Dance Your Way to Happiness,' was a most enjoyable evening. Thank you to Mr. Dennis and our Winter Concert Committee for organising this event.

Our wonderful PTA created a super atmosphere at our first MEF IS Winter Bazaar. The Auction was one of the highlights, and many parents took away some fabulous prizes. We are thankful to all involved.

The Fransiz Fakirhanesi (Bomonti Retirement Home), overseen by the Little Sisters of the Poor, have organized the annual Winter Holiday Bazaar at Bomonti, where crafts, clothes, and international foods will be sold, on December 14th from 10:00 a.m. to 16:00 p.m. Proceeds from this event are used to help the elderly residents. Congratulations to the MEF IS swim team, who competed in the Bosphorus Cup Swimming Championships. Our swimmers won a total of 18 Gold medals and finished in 1st place ahead of other schools from Istanbul and Ankara. MEF IS won every relay event on the program. |

This week we delivered the books collected from our English Reading Week book drive to the Little Sisters of the Poor (Fransız Fakirhanesi) to sell at their annual Christmas Market. |

The MEF IS Newspaper Club, led by grade 10 students, recently launched the school newspaper - MEF IS Post! Congratulations to our students. |

The Duke of Edinburgh Club had their first practical cooking test. Students created recipes, brought ingredients, cooked using camping stoves, and cleaned in a 1-hour time limit. |

Grade 6A Biology students learned how yeast is used in food production and developed a research question, from which they generated a hypothesis. They experimented with how different temperatures of sugar water affect the volume of carbon dioxide yeast, which 'burps' out as it eats. Afterwards, they analyzed the results and determined how the experiments could have been improved to produce more carbon dioxide. |

Student Council has been working on a variety of activities for the Winter holiday next week. There will be a Winter Carnival, a Friendly Candy Cane Giveaway, and our Winter Talent Show! |
