On Friday, our very generous PTA put on a brunch for staff to celebrate Teachers’ Appreciation Day. Thank you to all the parents involved.

On Monday, our lovely custodians put on a Teacher’s Day party for the ECC staff. We thank them for their kindness and delicious food.

MEF IS Primary School hosted their first Football Tournament on Friday. The MEF Mavericks boys' team won against BIS and IICS. Well done, boys!

The MEF Mavericks Girls' team came in 3rd. Well done for being the first girls’ football team at MEF IS!

We are very pleased to be able to offer a knitting club this semester. Thank you to our grade 4 teacher, Ms. Meral, for introducing this club to us. |

Grade 3 students visited the Basilica Cistern today. They had a great time exploring some of the myths, legends and mysteries about the basilica and the gorgons. |

MEF IS TALKS are back! On Thursday, February 27th at 7.30 p.m. the PTA will host a MEF IS Talks Event. This is a unique opportunity for speakers from the MEFIS Community to share innovative ideas and spark discussions. |

Grade 2 had fun finding artifacts and discovering sarcophaguses at the Istanbul Archaeology Museum. Thank you to the parent volunteers that accompanied this field trip. |

Swimming is back on this week. Here is grade 5 practising diving. Please note: our swimming unit will continue until Friday, the 13th of December. However, due to our secondary school Swimming Gala, there will be no swimming on Monday, the 9th of December for KA, KB and Grade 4B. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. |

On Wednesday, we welcomed Ms Karen back to school after her unfortunate accident and thanked Ms Perrin for covering her class. We are happy that the Grade 1A team will be back together from next Monday. |

Fine Arts Night, featuring musical performances and artworks by MEF IS Secondary students, will take place December 5th. The art exhibition is in the foyer next to the auditorium at 6 p.m., and the music concert is in the auditorium at 7 p.m. |

McGill University Representative, Jennifer Peterman, met with MEF Juniors and Seniors in a mini-seminar to discuss the available programs and how they might meet our students needs. |

8th grade HCS students are using the popular video game, ‘Minecraft’ to do a presentation about the Turkish War of Independence. |

MEF IS students visited Robert College for a table tennis tournament against Nişantaşı Işık High School, Robert College, Enka School on November 28th. |

English teachers use the 'Harkness Method' with students to engage in active, discussion-based learning to make meaning of the various texts studied. |
