This proactive and preventative program focuses on emotional and social literacy, with the intention of enhancing our students\u2019 well-being and enjoyment of the school environment. It will teach various child protection topics, with the aim of proactively ensuring student short- and long-term physical, mental, and emotional health and safety. The course aims to ultimately create a positive impact on student performance and overall success.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At MEF IS, the PSHE curriculum is delivered by the School Guidance Counselor. It is a vertical program, in that, content and skills are taught in an age-appropriate manner and extended throughout grades 6-12. Curriculum guides provided at the start of the academic year provide a clearer understanding of what is taught at each grade level.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Secondary PSHE curriculum was designed to align with the guidelines provided by the United Nations and Council of International Schools, regarding having a comprehensive and international child protection and well-being program. Furthermore, the program was created with the Child Protection team at MEF IS, and aligns with the Primary PSHE program, to provide continued learning to all students.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PSHE has the following general aims and objectives:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Personal Well-Being<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Developing reflective skills and self-awareness.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Understanding the complexities of emotions and their impact on behaviour.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Developing strategies to manage emotions in positive and constructive ways, in order to take our individual place within a community.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Social Well-Being<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"
