Students build on the knowledge, skills, and attitudes developed in grades 6-8 as they participate in a balanced selection of courses to prepare for the rigorous IB Diploma programme in grades 11 and 12. This allows students to take greater ownership of their learning, take intellectual risks with confidence, reflect on the process as well as the products of their learning, and adapt flexibly to new situations and new ways of thinking. Teachers strive to create authentic learning opportunities to help our students solidify their communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking skills. Ultimately, students are able to succeed academically, and they are equipped to participate constructively in society and the economy \u2013 locally, nationally, and globally.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Grade 9 and 10 students take the following courses:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">English (First Language English, &amp; World Literature, or English as a Second Language)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Language B (French, Spanish, or English as a Second Language)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Humanities (Global Perspectives and History)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mathematics<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Arts (Visual Art and Design)\/Physical Education<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Clubs<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Grade 9 and 10 English, Science, Math, and Language B courses follow the<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cambridgeinternational.org\/programmes-and-qualifications\/cambridge-secondary-2\/cambridge-igcse\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Cambridge Upper Secondary IGCSE Curriculum,<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which is designed to engage learners in an active and creative learning journey. At the end of grade 10, students take<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cambridgeinternational.org\/programmes-and-qualifications\/cambridge-secondary-2\/cambridge-igcse\/qualification\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Cambridge IGCSE<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> exams. Exams include written, oral, coursework, and alternative to practical assessment. IGCSE results provide eight internationally recognised grades, A* to G, which have clear guidelines that explain the standard of achievement for each grade.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In grades 11 and 12, students continue their studies in one of two graduation tracks: the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ibo.org\/programmes\/diploma-programme\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or IB Course Certificate route. Both options involve advanced two-year courses and provide excellent preparation for university study. During the final high school years, students are encouraged to think more about their post-secondary educational career paths. To support this process, students receive assistance and support with career and overseas college advising.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Grade 11 and 12 students in the IB Diploma Programme or IB Certificate route take courses in each of the following groups:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Studies in language and literature ( English A: Language and Literature or Language A: Literature school-supported self-taught)<\/li>\n<li>Language acquisition (English B,\u00a0 French ab initio or French B, Spanish ab initio or Spanish B)<\/li>\n<li>Individuals and Societies (Economics or History)<\/li>\n<li>Sciences (Chemistry, Biology, Physics)<\/li>\n<li>Mathematics\u00a0 (Analysis and approaches or Applications and interpretation)<\/li>\n<li>The arts (Visual Arts)<\/li>\n<li>Core (TOK, EE, and CAS)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students are assessed both internally and externally at the end of Grade 12 through IB examinations.
