This proactive and preventative program focuses on emotional and social literacy, with the intention of enhancing our students&#8217; well-being and enjoyment of the school environment. It will teach various child protection topics, with the aim of proactively ensuring student short- and long-term physical, mental, and emotional health and safety. The course aims to ultimately create a positive impact on student performance and overall success.<\/p>\n<p>At MEF IS, the PSHE curriculum is delivered by the School Guidance Counselor. It is a vertical program, in that, content and skills are taught in an age-appropriate manner and extended throughout grades 6-12. Curriculum guides provided at the start of the academic\u00a0year provide a clearer\u00a0understanding of what is taught at each grade level.<\/p>\n<p>The Secondary PSHE curriculum was designed to align with the guidelines\u00a0provided by the United Nations and Council of International\u00a0Schools, regarding having a comprehensive and international child protection and well-being program. Furthermore, the program was created with the Child Protection team at MEF IS, and aligns with the Primary PSHE program, to provide continued learning\u00a0to all students.<\/p>\n<p>PSHE has the following general aims and objectives:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Personal Well-Being<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Developing reflective skills and self-awareness.<\/li>\n<li>Understanding the complexities of emotions and their impact on behaviour.<\/li>\n<li>Developing strategies to manage emotions in positive and constructive ways, in order to take our individual place within a community.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Social Well-Being<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop the personal and social skills needed to take a positive, balanced and constructive place within a community.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Health Well-Being<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Focus on developmental, social, and emotional issues that arise during adolescence, in order to develop strategies and
