We know that choosing the right school for both you and your child is an important decision and it is not one that any parent takes lightly. In order to enroll your child or children at MEF IS, please follow the steps described below.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><b>Admissions Requirements:<\/b><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Applications will only be considered once the application fee has been paid.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students must have successfully completed their previous grade level to be placed in the next grade level in MEF IS when the Academic Year starts in August for the 2026-2027 school year.\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Academic Year generally runs from September to June, and one school year is completed in 10 months at MEF IS. However, in Southern Hemisphere countries such as Australia, Korea or Japan, the academic year runs from Feb-to-Dec; Mar-to-Feb or Apr-to-Mar. Therefore, students who come from these countries and apply to enter MEF IS in the second half of the academic year will not be placed in the next grade level until September because of having missed the first 5-6 months of that school year.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Families from Southern Hemisphere countries or with gaps in schooling who wish for their child to enter the next grade level will be subject to a 3-week trial in the next grade level. After that time, the Principal will gather teacher feedback and share the best grade level for the student.\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A proficient level of English (at least A2) is required for enrolment in Grades 9-12. Students are expected to have an intermediate level of English (B1-B2) for enrollment in Grades 10-11-12. All applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.<\/span><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students will take the WIDA English assessment at the discretion of the leadership team and ELL Specialists.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wida.wisc.edu\/sites\/default\/files\/resource\/Understanding-MODEL-scale-scores-CEFR-levels.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">WIDA English levels compared to CEFR English levels<\/span><\/a><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><p><b>Application Form:<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MEF IS Application Form for new students is available as a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1ZxXq5DaEo4XWRSVKfXkkaQUG_KUBOLFn\/view?usp=drive_link\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PDF<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><b>Documents Required (hard copies):<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Send the following documentation to the Admissions Office in person, through the post or upon arrival in Istanbul, making sure that all the documentation is provided in English; This should be filled out by your child\u2019s previous preschool teacher if she\/he has previously attended preschool, or by the parent if this is your child\u2019s first school experience.\u00a0<\/span><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Following your application, all your documentation will be forwarded to the School Principal for consideration. The Principal will take into consideration your child\u2019s academic, social and emotional development in making the decision. If your child has special educational needs or learning support needs, the Learning Support Team will also be consulted. Once a decision has been made regarding enrollment, the Admissions Office will contact you with the outcome.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once your child\u2019s enrollment is confirmed, you will receive an email from the admissions office inviting you to make payment of the placement fee to secure your child\u2019s place at the school.
