Students will investigate a range of topics that will provide them with a solid introduction to these two diverse but interrelated areas of study. It is hoped that students will develop a passion for the humanities and continue to explore its amazing diversity throughout their education.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>7th Grade: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The course is divided into one semester of geography and one semester of history. Students will investigate a range of topics that will provide them with continued skill development in these two diverse but interrelated areas of study. It is hoped that students will continue to develop skills from the previous year and continue to gain a better understanding of the Humanities while at the same time gain the joy of learning about why communities, planet, and history matters.\u00a0<\/span><\/li><\/ul><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>8th Grade: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This year will be divided into one semester of human geography and one semester of selected topics from 20th century history. Throughout the year students will develop the skills to take concise and effective notes, read and analyze graphs and maps, recognize reliability and bias within sources and current events, and support thoughtful opinions both orally and in writing.\u00a0<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><b>Course Aims &amp; Objectives:\u00a0<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The course aims to equip students with the fundamental skills they need for continued study in the Humanities discipline. It is hoped that students will become more enthusiastic, considerate, compassionate and tolerant individuals who have a real desire to help make the world a better place.<\/span><\/p><p><b>Objective 1: Key Concepts<\/b><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Explore the social, economic, environmental and political connections between places and understand the significance of interdependence in change<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Understand the interactions between places and the networks created by flows of information, people and goods<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Understand that the physical and human dimensions of the environment are interrelated, and together influence environmental change<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Explore how concepts of nation, language and religion influence identity and world affairs<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Understand political
